The Cotswolds 100
A self-supported bikepacking adventure
September 7th – 8th, 2024, Bath, Somerset
What is the Cotswolds 100?
This is a shorter version of our full 200 mile route and basically takes in the southern half of the original. This 100 mile MTB/Gravel route has been created to be more accessible to those with a busy lifestyle. At ‘only’ 100 miles in length, some will attempt this in one hit which means mandatory kit requirements will be at a minimum.
There are MANY significant downhill sections on this route which of course means a lot of uphill too! Starting in the city of Bath, the route heads north into the stunning Cotswolds AONB, which as many off-road bikers know, is such a great area to ride.
This route takes you as far north as Painswick before heading back to Bath. This isn’t a regular ‘there n back’ route though – the return leg is on an entirely different route!
Riding through Somerset, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire and back again, the many highlights will include some of the best off-road biking trails found in England.
Not only is the riding superb, the views from the Cotswolds escarpment are fantastic too – especially looking west across the Severn valley towards the Black Mountains.
But beware! Even at half the original distance, this is a tough route for bike and rider, with a high technical aspect in some sections and many steep trails, up and down, laden with rocks and roots..

FAQ’s
– How hard is this event?
The 100 mile distance and the 10,000ft of elevation gain is a challenge on its own. With a large part of the route being off-road and with plenty of opportunities to test your skills, together will make this event a pretty tough ride for most.
– What type of bike do I need?
A short travel mountain bike, either hardtail or full suspension would be fine. A gravel bike would also be suitable, though some of the numerous descents and gnarly rock sections will push your skills to the limit! Whatever your choice, your bike will need some decent off-road tyres and be in good working order.
– When and Where do the events start and finish?
Registration will take place in Bath on the morning of Saturday 7th September at 7am*. The ride itself follows and begins with a mass start at 8am*. The event officially closes one day later back in Bath on Sunday 8th September. (*exact times to be confirmed)
– Is the event timed?
We will have live GPS tracking throughout, however, any timing will be down to you. Details on rules, how the timing works and how to submit your time etc will be sent out closer to the event.
– How will I get to and from Bath?
We recognise a lot of people will not be local to the event and need to travel. We strongly encourage people to get the train to Bath or car share to minimise the impact of the event. Bath has a main line rail link, with the station only 10 minutes away.
– Where will I park?
Parking info will be released a bit nearer the time.
– Can I enter on the day?
No, entries will close 1 week before the event starts (last entries accepted on 30th August)
– Will event run in bad weather?
Yes, for example if part of the route is flooded, a diversion will be in force.
– I’m planning on arriving in Bath the night before, is there anywhere to camp/stay?
There’s plenty of hotel/B&B accommodation to be found in Bath. Motorhomes/campervans/caravans and tents can all be pitched at several places nearby. Camping details will be sent out a bit nearer the time.
