FAQ’s

How hard is this event?
The 200 mile distance and the 21,000ft of elevation gain is a challenge on its own. With a large part of the route being off-road and with plenty of opportunities to test your skills, together will make this event a pretty tough ride for most.

What type of bike do I need?
A short-ish travel mountain bike is best – either hardtail or full suspension. A gravel bike would also be suitable, though some of the numerous descents and gnarly rock sections will push your skills to the limit! Whatever your choice, your bike will need some decent off-road tyres and be in good working order.

When and Where do the events start and finish?
Registration will take place in Bath on the morning of Friday 9th September. The ride itself follows and begins with a mass start. The event finishes three days later back in Bath on Sunday 11th September.
The 4 day supported event also starts in Bath, but 36 hours earlier on Thursday 8th September. We will attempt to get the majority of riders of both events finishing at roughly the same time!

– Is the event timed?
Any timing will be down to you. We will be setting up a ‘Hall of Fame’ on our website for riders who want to submit their times on this route. Details on rules, how the timing works and how to submit your time etc will be sent out nearer the time.

How will I get to and from Bath?
Probably the easiest way is getting dropped off and collected from the start/finish. Or you could leave your car nearby. Bath also has a main line rail link, with the station only 10 minutes away.

Where will I park?
Any long stay car park close to Bath city centre. Parking info will be released a bit nearer the time.

Can I enter on the day?
No, Last entries will close 1 month before the event starts (last entries accepted – 8th August)

Will event run in bad weather?
Yes, for example if part of the route is flooded, a diversion will be in force.

I’m planning on arriving in Bath the night before, is there anywhere to camp/stay?
There’s plenty of hotel/B&B accommodation to be  found in Bath. Motorhomes/campervans/caravans can pitch just across the road at Bath Marina, whilst tents could pitch up at Bury Hill near Corston.
