Triple-Duro
A brand new concept of MTB racing..
6th April 2025
What is a Triple-Duro?
It is basically three different MTB disciplines (Hill Climb, Downhill and XC) that are raced individually to determine an overall winner. This inaugural event will take place at Northampton Bike Park and is a collaboration between Outcast Racing, Northampton Bike Park and the FNSS .
How does it work?
It works by a points scoring system. Whichever rider is quickest on the Hill Climb will score 1 point, 2nd quickest will score 2 points and so on. This scoring method is also used for the Downhill discipline.
After the Hill Climb and Downhill disciplines are completed, the points are then added together. These totals will then decide the gridding order of the final discipline – XC. The riders with the lowest combined points will be placed on the front rows of the start line. The XC discipline will be a one hour race with points awarded as before, with 1st over the line scoring 1 point.
The rider with the LOWEST combined points tally over the three disciplines will be crowned the overall winner.
The Courses
The three courses will utilise many of the bike park’s features including berms, rollers and tabletops.
The park’s skills area will also be included in the courses and is where the starts/finishes and XC pits are located. This ‘stadium section’ will also serve as a great viewing spot for spectators with prolonged views of the race.
